‘BE MORE CANDID’ | Bongbong Marcos aware of revisors’ outing – Robredo camp

JULY 11, 2018 – The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo reiterated on Wednesday that former Senator Bongbong Marcos was aware and even sent food for the swimming party of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), which he is questioning now before the Supreme Court.

In a counter-manifestation, Attorney Romulo Macalintal asked the PET to release the CCTV footage which they said would show one of Marcos’ supervisors “leaving a bag of snacks” in the office of PET in Manila.

“A closed circuit television (CCTV) footage will confirm Mr. (Roderick) Miranda leaving the bag of snacks in the fourth (4th) floor of the building,” Macalintal said.

On July 9, the legal counsel of Marcos filed a 12-page manifestation of grave concern with urgent motion to probe the outing attended by the 24 head revisors of PET and those of Robredo on June 22 at a resort of Calamba, Laguna.

Marcos’ camp found it anomalous since the revisors are in charge of the recount of contested ballots in the May 2016 electoral protest.

Lawyers of Robredo, meanwhile, immediately issued a clarification and disputed Marcos’ allegations.

In fact, an investigation has already been conducted where some of the personalities involved were already meted with penalties, Macalintal said.

“Marcos conveniently omitted these facts in order to suit his narrative that he was a victim during the May 9, 2016 national and local elections,” he added. “Inasmuch as we empathize with protestant Marcos in losing the Vice-Presidential race, he should be more candid to the Honorable Tribunal.”
