DANGEROUS WATERS | Passengers remain stranded at Manila North Harbor

SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 — Passengers heading for the Visayas and Mindanao are now stranded at the Manila North Harbor after the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) cancelled trips due to Typhoon Ompong.

The PPA said they advised the affected passengers of the cancellation of their trips ahead of time through text message.

A private company even provided P200 and loaned vehicles to allow the affected passengers to return to where they came from.

Passengers who opted to remain at the port despite the PPA’s warning against staying at the pier were transferred to a nearby evacuation center.

Authorities have yet to announce when ships will be able to resume travel.

Meanwhile, vessels headed for Cebu, Ozamis and Iligan will still be allowed to sail.
