IT’S NOT OVER | Sear Telecom, PT&T seek review of third telco bid submissions

NOVEMBER 9, 2018 — Sear Telecom (LCS-TierOne) and Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (PT&T) filed appeals on Friday, asking the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to review the two companies’ respective bid submissions.

The appeal comes after the two bidders were disqualified from the first round of screening during the NTC’s selection process on Wednesday.

PT&T business development head Benjamin Henares filed a motion for reconsideration before the NTC in behalf of the company.

Meanwhile, it was former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson who led the filing of the appeal for Sear Telecom.

At the filing, the technical team representative of Sear Telecom showed figures where, if their bid had been admitted, they would have had higher scores compared to Mislatel.

TierOne and LCS filed two appeals at the NTC: One objecting to the conferment of provisional new major player to Mislatel, and another objecting to their firm’s disqualification.

Mislatel Consortium, which was named the provisional third major telco player, is comprised of Udenna Corporation, Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp., China Telecom Corporation Limited, and the Mindanao Islamic Telephone Corporation, Inc.
