‘THE PEOPLE ARE RISING’ | Sereno challenges Duterte to resign

MAY 17, 2018 – Former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes on Thursday called for the resignation of President Rodrigo Duterte.

This after Duterte on an interview with the press yesterday denied any involvement in the ouster of the chief magistrate.

He once again mentioned that he will resign if it is proven that he had a hand in Sereno’s ouster.

It can be recalled that Sereno dared Duterte last April to disprove allegations that he was behind moves to remove her from office.

She also expressed alarm over Duterte’s statement on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vow to protect him from any plan to remove him from office.

Sereno said she will continue to stand and fight with the Filipinos against the looming dictatorship or what she believes we are already experiencing.

“Don’t ever think you can fool the people all the time. The people are rising and their voices are increasing in crescendo and indignation. Where are you going to bring our country?” she added.
