‘THEY’RE SO HORRIBLE’ | Villanueva vows to scrutinize every peso in PCOO budget

AUGUST 9, 2018 – Senator Joel Villanueva vowed on Thursday to be active in scrutinizing the proposed budget allocation for the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
“Si Joel Villanueva ay magiging aktibo sa pag-scrutinize ng budget ng PCOO at sisiguraduhin ko po na kung piso ay masyadong malaki para sa budget nila, hindi ko po sila bibigyan,” Villanueva said.
He made the statement following public outrage over PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson’s video of a lewd federalism jingle.
The PCOO has asked for a budget increase amounting to P1.5 billion for 2019 but lawmakers and concerned citizens have called for a zero budget, citing the agency’s series of blunders.
Villanueva said he will make sure that the agency will not get more than what it deserves.
“Sisiguraduhin ko po na kada piso na ibibigay sa kanila ay dapat masigurong karapat-dapat sa kanila, because right now, as I was looking at it, come on, magsisimula tayo sa Norwegia, kay Susan Roces — na ang dali-daling hanapin na siya po ay maybahay ng ating Senate President [Vicente Sotto III], si Helen Gamboa — si Winston Gatchalian na aming seat mate dito sa Senado, at marami pa pong iba,” Villanueva said.
He also didn’t like how the PCOO staff responded to public outrage to these blunders.
“I don’t know where some of these people are getting their guts to even defend not just misleading, but terribly wrong, attitude of taking this situation,” he said.
“Sa naririnig ko sa aking kasamahan sa Senado, hindi kami papayag na basta-basta palusutin at bigyan ng budget ang mga ahensya ng pamahalaan. Di natin sisingle outin, but they’re so horrible that they’re sticking out, itong PCOO,” he added
