WE APOLOGIZE | PCOO sorry for ‘Winston’ blunder
7 months ago
(JUNE 24, 2018) – The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has apologized for its mistake on the name of Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian in its press release.
In the presser issued last June 13 titled “President Duterte Commits to Provide Quality and Affordable Education for All,” the leading communications arm of the government mistakenly named the senator “Winston.”
Gatchalian yesterday took to Twitter his disappointment in PCOO.

“It is our duty to disseminate accurate information and this error is not in accordance with the standards of the President’s communications team,” the PCOO said in an erratum.
The communications agency has also assured that “stricter measures” have been applied to avoid such error.
Gatchalian has since accepted the agency’s apology in another tweet.
I hope (and pray) that this error will be the final one. Maraming salamat sa acknowledgment. https://t.co/qLJv9qDgm4

The Gatchalian incident is the third in a string of errors committed by the PCOO.
Last week, PCOO mistakenly named late former National Security Adviser and Parañaque lawmaker Roilo Golez as “Rogelio” in one of its posts. It also wrongfully referred to Norway as “Norwegia” in a separate post.
