In celebration of International Women’s Month, the UP Delta Lambda Sigma Sorority (UP DLS) presents the HERitage Market, a two-day bazaar event on March 22-23, 2025 (Saturday to Sunday), from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the UP Town Center Activity Area, Katipunan, Quezon City.
This event highlights prominent women-led businesses, brands, and creators who are forging their paths in establishing various enterprises. Through the HERitage Market, women entrepreneurs are given a platform to share their stories, sell their products, and build a supportive community.
UP DLS was founded by several women scholars, driven by a shared mission to empower and embolden women, while also fulfilling the University’s mandate of service to the people. Rooted in the values of academic excellence, leadership, and sisterhood, the sorority aims to carve avenues for women to unlock their fullest potential and make meaningful contributions to society.
One of the sorority’s flagship projects is Si Malakas ay Si Maganda, which provides insights on legal rights, peer counseling approaches, and self-defense workshops for victims of gender-based violence and harassment.
Other socio-civic programs include Egg Kitchen, a decade-long initiative that provides hard-boiled eggs and snacks to pediatric patients and breastfeeding mothers, and Strength in Strides, a series of recreational classes such as spin, row, run, and yoga that aims to support the student-scholars of the DLS Alumni Association Scholarship Program.
In November 2024, UP DLS partnered with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), which shelters over 700 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), to launch Project Stitch. These women are part of a vulnerable sector, yet many of them continue to provide for their families while incarcerated by handcrafting artisan goods sold through BJMP’s livelihood programs. Their incredible handiwork will be showcased and available at the HERitage Market. Every item purchased will not only celebrate their talent but also empowers them with the opportunity to support their families and rebuild their futures.
As proud organizers of the HERitage Market, UP DLS celebrates the power and creativity of women entrepreneurs, showcasing their talents while fostering a supportive community. This International Women’s Month event reflects the sorority’s unwavering commitment to uplifting women, promoting innovation, and honoring the heritage of resilience and empowerment that unites women everywhere.
