Julie Anne San Jose apologizes for viral performance at a church event

(October 10, 2024) – Singer-actress Julie Anne San Jose on Thursday, October 10, apologized following her viral performance at a church event, where she appeared to perform at the church’s altar in Occidental Mindoro.

In an Instagram post, San Jose expressed her apologies to those who were offended by her performance, clarifying that her intention was to entertain and help with the charity event.

“I am offering my apologies. Even though my only intentions were to share joy and to give support to the church through the benefit concert, many have felt offended about the incident I was in and with my performance which caused distress. I truly, sincerely apologize,” the singer-actress said.

She also prayed for everyone to move on from the issue.

“I pray that we can all move forward with compassion in our hearts. Thank you,” she added.

Julie Anne was a special guest at a benefit concert held last Sunday, October 7, at the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Shrine and Parish in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, where she appeared to perform at the church’s altar. This sparked outrage among many netizens who viewed it as disrespectful.

On Thursday morning, the church’s parish priest, Father Carlito Dimaano, also released a statement, taking responsibility for the incident. He apologized to the congregation, the performers, including Julie Anne, and their bishop for the controversy caused by the event.

Previously, San Jose’s management, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, released a statement to address the issue where they took full responsibility for Julie Anne’s attendance at the event and said that it is their job to coordinate and clear details with the organizers and relay the instructions to their artist.

“Julie Anne only fulfilled her duties and commitment as a true professional,” said in their statement.

“We are truly sorry to those we have offended. We hope that this puts the issue to rest. We apologize to Julie Anne as well. Moving forward, we will be more vigilant in our coordination efforts to ensure such incidents do not happen again,” they added.
