(June 2, 2025) – In celebration of the 127th Philippine Independence Day, PLDT Global, MQuest Ventures, and Philippine Airlines (PAL) are joining forces to support the Hong Kong Festival 2025 — a landmark event that will honor and showcase the vibrant spirit of Filipino culture in the heart of Hong Kong.
The event will feature a four-day lineup of cultural, cinematic, and community activities from June 12 to 15, aimed at bringing joy, recognition, and inspiration to the hardworking Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Admission to all events is free of charge; however, attendees are encouraged to log in to the “Tindahan ni Bossing” or “tinbo” app and register to secure their tickets.
“This is a free concert or event for everybody, but there are special events that we will have on those particular days. So if they want to get into those more curated events, it’s good that they go into the Tinbo platform and register,” said PLDT Global President and CEO Albert Villa-Real during the official launch held at the PAL Museum in Pasay City on Monday.
Villa-Real also announced that PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan will receive an award from the Philippine Association of Hong Kong (PAHK) in recognition of his bayanihan projects and his support for OFWs in Hong Kong.
The festivities will officially kick-off on June 12 with an Independence Day celebration hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong. The event will feature a traditional Pinoy almusal, followed by the National Day Reception.
On June 13, the spotlight shifts to Filipino cinema with Day 1 of the Makabayan Film Festival at Emperor Cinemas, featuring acclaimed films “Song of the Fireflies” and “GomBurZa.” A meet-and-greet session with featured guests will follow the screenings.
The film festival continues on June 14, showcasing the film “The Kingdom” for Day 2 of the Makabayan Film Fest.
The celebration culminates on June 15 at Chater Road in Central Hong Kong, with “Saludo 2025.” The event will include a Philippine Independence Day program, cultural performances by the Filipino community, and a free-for-all concert.
For the flag carrier’s part, Philippine Airlines Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez expressed pride as he announced that their team will also be present throughout the four-day event.
“Our team will also be on the ground. Our team will be there, do activations and make sure we are very visible in terms of of our ability to answer questions from our kababayans if there are any, from flights, and what is instore for PAL in the future,” he said
“We are very proud of this. And the fact that the flag carrier is part of an initiative that will honor our OFWs, is very, very important to us,” he added.
