(October 11, 2024) – Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on Friday claimed that his political rivals are only trying to create buzz around them by urging him to sign a peace covenant for the 2025 midterm elections.
He maintained that Sarah Discaya, who’s running against him for the mayoral post, and her family are just attempting to change the narrative against them while facing charges of tax fraud and tax evasion.
Hindi rin tayo papayag,” said Sotto on One PH’s Sa Totoo Lang, noting that there has always been a peace covenant among candidates.
The 35-year-old incumbent mayor also refuted the claims of the Discayas that they’ve been having difficulty obtaining business permits.
I think this is something that we’ve seen nationwide.”
Discaya is the wife of Curlee Discaya, the owner of the St. Gerrard General Contractor and Development Corp. (STCC), which withdrew from its joint venture with South Korea’s Miru Systems, the country’s service provider for next year’s elections.
STCC said it withdrew to avoid a conflict of interest.

Sotto, who is eyeing a third and final term, asserted that voicing out regarding the matter was not a “political consideration.”
Sotto earlier called out the alleged efforts to throw dirt at his leadership. In August, he confronted protesters pretending to be from Pasig. He found out that they were actually from Quezon City.
