(May 10, 2022) – Vice Presidential aspirant Walden Bello on Tuesday issued a stern warning, reminding the people of the impending terrible consequences under the rule of former senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Rodrigo-Duterte.
In his statement entitled “F*** You, Marcos, The Battle Has Just Begun,” Bello, the running mate of labor leader Leody De Guzman, said he understood that although the public believed in their advocacies and programs, it is not their time to lead the country.
“People often told us that while they might not, for various reasons, vote for us this time around, they felt Leody and I were the only ones who carried a real program for real change,” said Bello.

Bello, however, underscored that there is a far greater issue at hand.
“Thus the task for the coming period is not only to preserve our democratic rights from their being eroded under the rule of the Marcos-Duterte axis of evil. It is also to expand the mass base for a democratic socialist future for our country,” said Bello.
He added that the country might face six years of instability under another Marcos regime. He also said the tandem of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio was only formed out of convenience and is “lucky to survive one year before it is undone by the inevitable infighting over the spoils of office.”
Bello also stated the various forms of rage-fueled resistance that loom while Marcos and Duterte are in office.
“A large sector of the population will refuse to grant legitimacy and credibility to the rule of the family of thieves. The government bureaucracy is likely to be split, as will the military,” said Bello.
As of writing, Bello, who served as the representative of Akbayan from 2007 to 2015, sits at seventh place in the vice presidential race with 99,359 votes based on the unofficial count of the Commission on Elections.
He assured the Filipinos that they can count on him to be part of a movement that will counter evil. He also encouraged the public to not mourn over what happened but to take action.
“Someone said don’t let turbulent conditions faze you, for in reality, ‘The conditions under heaven are excellent.’ I fully agree. Comrades and friends, don’t mourn, organize,” concluded Bello.
