(Abril 27, 2022) – Pagsamba sa isang presidential candidate ang laman ng ilang mga komento sa Facebook hinggil sa nag-viral na larawan ng mga Kakampink noong Kuwaresma.

Hindi totoo ang pahayag na ito.

ANG PAHAYAG: May daluyong ng mga komento na nagsasabing pinupuri at sinasamba ang isang presidential candidate matapos mag-viral ang mga larawan ng mga Pilipino na nagtatanghal ng taunang “Kalbaryo ng Maralita” sa Katipunan.

Sa Facebook page ng isang pahayagan noong Martes, ibinahagi ang mga larawan ng isang lalaki na may hawak na palaspas at may bitbit na pink na mga sash. Mayroon din larawan ng pari na may bitbit na krus.

Ang post ay may caption na: “Pinangunahan ni Fr. Robert Reyes ang ‘Kalbaryo ng Maralita’ sa Leni-Kiko headquarters sa Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City noong Martes” (Isinalin mula sa wikang Ingles).

Sinasabi ng ilan sa mga nagkomento na ang mga nakunan ng larawan ay sumasamba kay Bise Presidente Leni Robredo, isang presidential candidate sa halalan.

“Kawawa naman si Lord, iba na ‘yung sinasamba, si LENI na,” saad ng isang Facebook user.

“Ang ginagawa lang nila ay purihin si Leni, hindi ang Panginoon at Tagapagligtas,” sabi ng isa pang online user sa wikang Ingles, kasama ang crying emoji.

“Nanay niyo panginoon na HAHAHA,” komento ng ibang Pilipino na tinutukoy si Robredo na minsan nang tinawag ang sarili bilang “ina ng bansa” bilang siya ang pangalawang pinakamataas na opisyal sa bansa.

“Masyado niyo (nang) iniidolo at sinasamba ang pink na lutang ina niyo!” saad ng isa pang kritiko.

Kinuwestiyon din ng ilang user ang paggamit ng pink na mga ribbon sa mga dahon ng palaspas at ang pink na tela sa krus.

“Hindi talaga magandang tingnan ang pink na ribon sa mga palaspas. Gayunman, kahit hindi magiging dahilan ng pagtalikod sa aking pananampalataya bilang Katoliko ang bagay na ito, palaisipan sa akin kung ang mga nagpapakilalang matuwid na pinuno ng simbahan sa bansang ito ay nasa katinuan pa. Sa halip na sila ang nangungunang manalangin para sa atin, panahon na siguro para tayong mga ordinaryong Katoliko ang mangunang magdasal para sa kanila,” saad ng isang Facebook user sa wikang Ingles.

Nagtaka naman ang iba at humiling ng paliwanag sa Simbahang Katoliko.

“Nirerespeto ko ang Simbahang Katoliko pero pakipaliwanag po ito,” saad ng isa sa pinaghalong wikang Tagalog at Ingles, lakip ang thinking face emoji.

MARKA: Kulang sa konteksto

ANG TOTOO: Ang “Kalbaryo ng Maralita” ay isang taunang protesta ng humalaw sa mga tradisyon at simbolo ng Kuwaresma upang ilarawan ang pang-araw-araw na pakikibaka ng maralitang tagalungsod para sa mas maayos na pamumuhay.

Isinasagawa ng Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay), isang grupo ng maralitang tagalungsod, ang protestang pang-Kuwaresma taun-taon kung saan kinukundena nito ang mga polisiyang anti-poor at isyung panlipunan na kinakaharap ng mga Pilipino.

Sa ika-37 beses sa lansangan ngayong taon, pinapanawagan ng sektor na tanggalin ang fuel excise at value-added tax, ibasura ang oil deregulation law, bukod sa iba pa.

Higit sa tatlong libong indibidwal mula sa sektor ng maralitang tagalungsod ang nagtanghal ng “Kalbaryo ng Maralita” noong Martes na may temang “Wakasan ang Kalbaryo ng mga Maralita, Iluklok ang Tunay na Pag-asa.”

Itinanghal ito sa headquarters ng Leni-Kiko (Pangilinan) volunteer center sa Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, at pinangunahan ni Fr. Robert Reyes.

Ayon sa mga ulat, nagsasadula ang partikular na eksena ng kalbaryo ngayong taon kung paanong ang pasyon, pagkamatay, at pagkabuhay ni Hesukristo ay sumasalamin sa danas ng maralitang tagalungsod na nakikibaka para palayain ang sarili sa kahirapan.

Noong 2015, nanawagan din ang Kadamay, sa pamamagitan ng “Kalbaryo ng Maralita”, para sa pagbitiw sa puwesto ng yumaong si dating Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III kung saan binatikos ng grupo ang umano’y pagsunod ng kanyang administrasyon sa mga dayuhang negosyo, bukod sa iba pa.

BAKIT ITO MAHALAGA: Ang post sa Facebook ng news outlet na nagdulot ng mga maling pahayag sa comment section ay naibahagi sa Facebook ng 44,000 beses. Umani rin ito ng 34,000 reactions at 13,000 komento.

Mayroong 646,066 likes at 812,595 followers ang page ng nasabing news outlet.

Patuloy na umaani ng komento ang post mula sa mga taong naniniwalang sinasamba umano si Robredo sa mga larawan at hindi nirerespeto ang Simbahang Katoliko.
