From Lola Nidora to Maine Boleche: The colorful characters portrayed by Wally Bayola

With his witty and impromptu approach to comedic entertainment and the colorful characters he portrays, Wally Bayola definitely made a mark as one of Philippine television’s funniest hosts and comedians.

Wally became a part of the longest noontime show Eat Bulaga in 2000 together with his longtime comic partner Jose Manalo, and they have been Legit Dabarkads ever since.

Initially working as a jester, he was tasked to entertain the studio audience before the actual live show, while Jose was the floor director at that time. The two discovered their “chemistry” in hosting and entertaining people when they were given a chance to do an out-of-town show, and so the comic duo was born.

Ang nabuong solid partner sa kasiyahan, lalo pang naging extra loaded with kulitan at hagalpak na tawanan nang madagdag ang pangkumpleto sa OGs sa komedya na JoWaPao! Ang tripleng sayang hatid nila ay nagsimula mahigit isang dekada na ang lumipas. Sino’ng mag-aakala na sa minsang kinailangan lamang ng karagdagang host sa Juan For All, All For Juan: Bayaninhan of D’Pipol segment ng Eat Bulaga ang magiging mitsa ng iconic trio! Unexpected na pag-click ng humor, going even stronger!

Kasama sina Jose at Paolo, isa sa mga pinakatumatak na karakter ni Wally ay si Lola Nidora ng Kalyeserye segment ng Eat Bulaga.

Si Lola Nidora ang tumayong guardian ni Yaya Dub at nagpalaki rito. Dahil nga sa kaniyang concern, naging mahigpit si Lola Nidora nang magka-something sa pagitan nina Yaya Dub at Alden! Ang kaniyang pagtutol at pag-iingat kay Yaya Dub ang naghudyat ng “Tamang Panahon” bilang kaniyang palaging paalala. Kahit pa man may kunot noo at taas kilay moments na para kay Lola Nidora, minahal pa rin ang kaniyang karakter dahil sa pagmamahal nito kay Yaya Dub at kalauna’y naging approved na rin naman sa pagtitinginan ng dalawa.

Sa Kalyeserye rin nabigyang buhay ni Wally ang spoiled brat na si Duhrizz, na apo ni Lola Nidora, kung saan pareho silang mag-lola na mataray at maikli ang pasensya!

At mukhang suki na yata si Wally ng mga elder characters dahil hanggang ngayon, siya pa rin ang lola ng pamilya! Sa tampok na AI family ng Eat Bulaga, ginagampanan ni Wally si Lola Belen maging ang kaniyang anak na si Papa Ethan.

‘Di pa riyan nagtatapos ang variety ng characters ni Wally, dahil Dabarguard din siya ni Mayor Jose Manalo na aktibong aktibo sa palaro, panukala, at pakulo sa Sugod Bahay Kapatid segment ng Eat Bulaga. Natigil lamang siya sa pagiging si Dabarguard Wally when the curtains opened for his new role in the barangay—si Maine Boleche!

Nagsimula ang pagganap niya bilang si Maine Boleche sa birthday production and surprise para kay Maine Mendoza noong March 2, 2024. Ginaya niya ang ilang poses ni Maine sa pagiging cover girl nito ng Vogue magazine at nag-perform din siya bilang si Maine Boleche.

Hanggang sa si Maine Boleche, napadpad na sa barangay! Dahil sa good vibes na hatid ng karakter ni Wally, palagi na siyang present para magbigay saya, at payo sa ating mga kapatid sa barangay.

Inaabangan ang mga Payong Kapatid ni Maine Boleche, kaya kinalap namin ang ilan sa mga hindi malilimutang advice niya na talagang mapapaisip at mapapakunot-noo ka! Sino nga namang hindi gagaan kahit papaano ang problema, kung napapangiti at napapasaya?

ANG SAGOT SA PAIBA-IBANG KLIMA NG BUHAY – MGA PAYONG KAPATID NI MAINE BOLECHE

Dahil sa kanyang mga “iconic” portrayals, our Legit Dabarkads made sure Wally’s 52nd birthday on Eat Bulaga will be a blast! He was definitely the main character for his special day, as Ryzza Mae Dizon, Carren Eistrup, Miles Ocampo, Atasha Muhlach, and Maine Mendoza prepared a special tribute for him, by performing as the different versions of Maine Boleche!

Walang pagsidlan naman ang tuwa at pagpapasalamat ni Wally para sa itinuturing niyang pamilya sa showbiz, lalo pa ng tawagin siyang “Employee of the Year” ni Bossing Vic Sotto. We say, “Dasurv!”

Talagang ganado ang tanghalian kung solid sa komedya na si Wally ang kasalo! Kaya naman tutok lang for more laughtrip moments with him kasama ang TVJ at ang Legit Dabarkads, mula Lunes hanggang Biyernes, 12NN, at Sabado, 11:30AM dito lang sa Kapatid Network.
