Squid Game has hooked viewers from all over the globe as it showcases a unique genre compared to other popular K-dramas. Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game’s premise is centered on a mysterious competition giving players a chance to win billions of cash for playing childhood games. Losing, however, could cost them their life.
Filipinos took their appreciation of the thrilling series to social media, with “Squid Game” being one of the top trending topics on Twitter on Thursday with 185,000 tweets.
Some netizens joked about how the game would look like it was to take place in the Philippines.

Squid Game, which has nine episodes, stars veteran actors Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, and Wi Ha-joon.
But netizens also expressed appreciation for the Filipino actor, Christian Lagahit, who’s part of the cast as Player 276. Lagahit, a teacher by profession, has also taken roles in other popular K-dramas such as Itaewon Class, Crash Landing on You, and My ID is Gangnam Beauty.
