MURDER IN KUWAIT | Dead Filipina’s employers face murder case, sons’ role probed
January 28, 2020 , 02:19 PM

JANUARY 28, 2020 — Kuwaiti authorites have filed murder charges against the couple who hired a Filipino worker who was beaten to death, the labor secretary said on Monday.

Silvestre Bello III said authorities are now looking into alleged role of the couple’s three sons in the death of Jeanelyn Villavende. There were signs she was also sexually abused by her employers.

“I was informed that the employers have been formally charged with murder,” Bello said after receiving a report from Kuwait on Monday.

Bello also said Villavende’s male employer also works at the Kuwaiti interior ministry.

The labor chief said a separate autopsy made the National Bureau of Investigation had shown Villavende was also sexually abused and sodomized.

Villavende’s employetd had initially offered blood money worth 50-million pesos should the slain overseas worker’s family decides to drop criminal charges.

The family has rejected the amount and instead demanded the harsher capital punishments, paying for their own lives the life of Villavende.

The family said no amount of money can bring her back to life.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. has also warned officials under his department against accepting blood money while calling for capital punishment against the culprits behind the slain OFW’s death.
