(April 26, 2023) – Sen. Cynthia Villar on Wednesday denied having an outburst when she was seen in a viral video confronting the security guards of their village in Las Piñas over the placement of metal barricades on the road.
Villar said the steel fences along Zapote River Drive would block the way leading to a decades-old composting facility for the public that she had built in the BF Resort Village.
“They’re just inventing that. There’s no outburst,” said Villar in a media conference with Senate reporters. “I was just telling them (security guards) to remove the gate because it is for public use. It’s not for me. I don’t need that.”

Last April 19, a video posted on Facebook, which quickly went viral, showed an angry Villar ordering the security guards to remove the metal barriers. Some officers of the homeowner’s association were also present during the incident.
Villar answered in the affirmative when asked if she thought there was malicious intent in the post. However, she refused to expound on her sentiment because her legal team is still looking into the possibility of seeking legal action over the matter.
She was also heard issuing a homophobic slur that drew the ire of gender advocacy groups like Bahaghari.
“There’s something wrong with him. He’s a security guard. He has a gun in his holsters. Anong sasabihin ko? Masasaktan ko ba ‘yan? Ang tapang ko naman, ang laki-laki niya, ang liit-liit ko, wala ako baril, siya may baril. Why would I do it?” added Villar in the media briefing.
In the video, an officer of the homeowners’ association was asking her not to hurt one of the security guards, to which she responded: “Bakit, kaya ko bang saktan ‘yan? Ano ‘yan, bakla?”
Villar said she found it suspicious that she was being repeatedly asked not to hurt anyone.
“They planned it but that’s okay with me. ‘Pag ikaw public official, you encounter all these problems and you must accept it because that’s the price you pay for being a public official. You have to accept all these things. You just do what you have to do afterwards,” said Villar.
She claimed that the leaders of the homeowners’ association might be angry at her because of the former’s alleged opposition to the “Friendship Route” that allowed other residents in Las Piñas to pass by specified roads within villages for free.
“Siguro doon sila nagalit sa akin kasi that will bring down the income. Because they’re charging P2,500 per sticker. Eh ‘yung ‘friendship sticker’ is free for Las Piñeros,” posited Villar.
She maintained that she only wanted to push for what she thinks is right.
“I don’t want people to remember me as a senator who just kept quiet. I want to be remembered as someone who will fight for what is right and what is good for the people,” said Villar.
