ON ‘BOBA’ REMARK | Sec. Locsin known for colorful language —Panelo
June 25, 2019 , 05:11 PM

JUNE 25, 2019 — Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Tuesday has likened the “boba” remark of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. to the “colorful language” of the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

“He is known for colorful language like Sen. Miriam. He is competent to act,” Panelo said in a press briefing.

Panelo said Locsin’s apologies must be given credit, since his aggressive tweets just probably came out of exasperation.

“He already apologized. That speaks a lot when you apologize. That means he committed a mistake,” Panelo said.

Panelo recalled former United States President Barack Obama in 2016 being cursed by President Rodrigo Duterte, who is supposedly akin to Locsin.

“Presidente natin, ganoon din ang style. When he cursed Mr. Obama, biglang tiningala ng buong mundo,” he said.

Locsin on Monday lambasted Vice President Leni Robredo after the latter questioned the cancellation of diplomatic passports, following former DFA secretary Albert Del Rosario’s denial of entry in Hong Kong on June 21.

A few minutes after, Locsin wrote a follow-up tweet asking people to give the Vice President a brain.

But in less than an hour, Locsin apologized to Robredo.

Some allies of Robredo did not accept Locsin’s apology.
