(June 5, 2024) – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday assured the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials of a listening government under his leadership as he recognized their significant role in national development. The President administered the oath-taking of at least 31 newly elected officials of the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) National and Island Representatives at the Malacañan Palace.
“Huwag niyong iisipin na dahil sinasabi mataas ‘yung governor, mataas ‘yung mayor, tapos kami barangay lang kami, SK lang kami. Huwag niyong iisipin ‘yun dahil napakahalaga ng inyong trabaho. Napakahalaga ang ginagampanan ninyo na katungkulan para sa ating pagpaganda ng Pilipinas,” he told the newly elected LnB officers.
Underscoring the importance of the Filipino youth’s role in nation-building, Pres. Marcos, Jr. said the government needs young blood, youth’s energy, and their intuitive and instinctive knowledge.
“It is very clear that government, for example, needs to be revitalized, needs to have new blood, needs to have new ideas, needs to have that determination and energy that maybe the very high-ups have lost sight of,” the chief executive said.
“Napakaganda makita na ang mga kabataan talagang hindi nila tinitigilan ang kanilang paniniwala na ipinaglalaban,” he added.
The President also asked the youth to maximize the use of the new technology in their planning and decision-making as he vowed complete support from the national government.
“The future is going to be technology driven and that is why the natural instinct of younger people, when it comes to technology is important. It has to be part of all our thinking. It has to be part of all our planning,” according to Pres. Marcos.
Moreover, he urged the local government officials to listen to the young people as he recognized their skills especially when it comes to technology and innovation.
“We have to hear from the young people. We have to hear from the ordinary citizens what is the future that you want? What is the future that you feel we can achieve? And how do you suggest that we do it? These questions are very, very important and these are questions that we ask of the local government and I promise you, we will listen to those answers,’ Pres. Bongbong Marcos stated in his message for the newly elected officials of the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) National and Island Representatives.
