PINOY PRIDE | Pacquiao reaps praises for victory over Thurman

JULY 21, 2019 — Fighting senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao receives praises as the Pambansang Kamao brings home another belt.

Pacquiao claimed the WBA Super Welterweight title from Thurman via split decision in favor of the People’s Champ.

Presidential Spokesperson lauded Pacquiao for raising the country’s flag with his display of athleticism, power, and Filipino pride.

“[T]he Palace is one in rejoicing with the Filipino people as the Pambansang Kamao once again puts the flag above the pedestal with his display of tenacity and courage,” said Panelo in a statement.

Fellow members of the Senate also extended their congratulations to the fighting senator.

Senator Joel Villanueva said Pacquiao’s career is an inspiration to Filipinos everywhere.

“Tulad po ng ating mga kababayan na patuloy na lumalaban sa kabila ng hirap ng buhay, hindi po inurungan ng ating Pambansang Kamao ang bawat hamon sa loob at maging sa labas ng ring,” said Villanueva.

Meanwhile, Senator Sonny Angara expects the fighting lawmaker to bring in the same courage and prowess Pacquiao displayed during his match against Thurman into the Senate.

“By Monday, my friend and colleague will step again into the Senate ring to join the fight against our ancient enemies — hunger, joblessness, poverty,”

Manila Mayor Fracisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso said Pacquiao has proven anew his power to be unparalleled.

“Hindi mapapantayan ang ipinamalas na husay at galing ni Pacman na marami nang beses na kinlala sa iba’t ibang dako ng mundo,” said Moreno.

Pacquiao will not be able to make it to the opening of the 18th Congress and President Rodrigo Duterte’s fourth state of the nation address, according to a text message from Jinkee Pacquiao,.

While Pacquiao suffered no major injuries from his fight, he was advised to skip out on attending Monday’s event.
