(July 13, 2020) – After reporting a record 162 death in a day, the Philippines on Monday reached another milestone as more than 4,000 people infected with coronavirus have recovered, a senior health official said.
Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the total number of infected individuals who got well have reached 20,371 as of July 13.
She said 65 deaths were also recorded, raising the tally to 1,599.
Most of the reported deaths were in central Visayas and were from June.
The Philippines now has a total of 57,006 cases since the outbreak in late January after confirming 836 new infections.
Of the number, more than 35,000 are active cases, about 3,000 less from this morning’s tally.

This was also the first time in 11 days that the Health Department has posted less than 1,000 confirmed cases in a day.
From July 3 until July 12, the country’s daily additional case count is at least 1,200.
On July 8, the DOH posted its highest single-day additional cases of 2,539.
The health agency failed to release its daily case bulletin yesterday and was only able to do so this morning, citing significant volume of data to validate.
The department also implemented its revised reporting method by omitting “fresh” and “late” cases. (Tony Castelltort/MM)
