WARNING TO SARA | Duterte ‘regrets’ running for president
June 13, 2019 , 01:37 PM

(JUNE 13, 2019) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said expressed regret for seeking the presidency in the 2016 elections, as he advised Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio not to follow his footsteps.

In a speech before newly elected officials in Cagayan de Oro City, the chief executive once again vented his frustrations with the challenges faced by his administration.

“I lost my enthusiasm to work. Actually, I deeply regretted it. I regretted my decision to run for president,” Duterte said in the vernacular.

“I never lost an election. So since 1988, I was rising until I became President of this Republic. But if you ask me if I’m happy now, I won’t lie. Why would I? I do not have any obligation to you to lie, to tell a lie. I’m sick and tired of this,” he added.

Duterte also thumbed down her daughter Sara’s possible bid for the 2022 presidential elections.

“That is why when people speculated Inday to run for president, I told her, ‘Don’t do it, ‘Day. You will not be able to control it. They will disrespect you, those sons of b******,'” he said.

The Davao mayor has been floated as possible successor to her father, although she has not bared her political plans.

The younger Duterte earlier said running for the highest public post would require a lot of thought.

In the same speech, the president took a swipe anew at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who has been a staunch critic of his administration.

“Then there are people like Trillanes, the politicians who are not doing anything. They are the rogue soldiers,” Duterte said.

“They don’t know anything. They are almost ignorant. They finished a four-year-course in PMA and believed that they are so great and tough already.”
