MAY 15, 2019 – Former police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa expressed openness to take courses that will help him in his new role as senator.
In an interview with One PH radio show “‘Wag Po!”, Dela Rosa admitted that he lacked the necessary experience for the post.
Dela Rosa, who was endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte, currently ranks fifth in the partial and unofficial results of the Commission on Elections.
“Kailangan talagang mag-train tayo dahil baguhan tayo, ‘di naman tayo batikang pulitiko,” he said.
“Kailangan mag-aral tayo para alam natin. You have to learn the ropes para magiging epektibo tayong mambabatas,” he furthered.
Dela Rosa, who also served as the head of Bureau of Corrections, raised that he will push for a measure that will revive death penalty for drug traffickers.
“Dapat malagot itong mga taong ito dahil sa aking experience sa Bureau of Corrections, noong makausap ko yung konbiktadong drug lords, konbiktadong drug traffickers sa loob ng Bilibid, why do you insist of bringing drugs to the Philippines, ang sagot nila palagi ay because you don’t have death penalty for drug trafficking here in the Philippines,” Dela Rosa argued.

The prospective senator also faced the question concerning a photo of him taken during the senatorial debate at the University of Santo Tomas.
The photo, which went viral on social media, showed Dela Rosa appearing to pee himself.
