(July 14, 2021) – More Filipinos have tuned in to TV5 Network’s news and entertainment programs in the last six months, increasing its viewership to the second most-watched broadcaster in the country, a leading global media and data measurement company said on Wednesday.
Nielsen showed the network’s total viewership registered an 89 percent growth, making it the second most highly rated channel in the country. Its weekday primetime block rose from 5.3 audience share in January to 12.9 percent by the end of June, while the weekend shows showed an improvement from 4.2 to 6.9 in the same time period.
More people based in Visayas and Mindanao also watched TV5’s programs, translating to a 150-percent and 134-percent growth in primetime audience share in the central and southern Philippines, respectively.
“We are thrilled that more and more viewers are tuning in to our shows,” said CignalTV and TV5 President and CEO Robert Galang, vowing to expand the media network’s coverage by the end of the month.
“We will continue to challenge ourselves to do even better, and we promise to keep creating shows that delight all kinds of audiences.”
Galang thanked Filipino audiences in Visayas and Mindanao who have been supporting the network’s programs.
TV5 has launched an active campaign, “Iba sa 5,” to promote its primetime television programs, highlighting the unique programming lineup prepared by the network for its viewers.
Some of the programs that contributed to the network’s viewership growth include its primetime newscast, Frontline Pilipinas, as well as Sing Galing, Niña Niño, John En Ellen, Rolling in It, The Wall Philippines, and Puto.
It also entered into a deal with the ABS-CBN Network earlier this year by airing some Kapamilya shows on the Kapatid network, including the long-running primetime show, “Ang Probinsyano”, and weekly entertainment program “ASAP Natin ‘To.”
Dino Laurena, the chief operating officer of Media5, also welcomed the higher viewership growth over the first two quarters of the year, affirming the people’s trust in the remarkable programs of TV5.
“Iba-iba ang mapapanood mo dito. Iba-ibang viewers ang mag-e-enjoy dito. Iba-iba rin ang mga artista at content creator na makikita mo dito. Our collaborations with great artists and creative minds in the industry allow us to offer something fresh, new, and unexpected,” Laurena said.
“That is what makes us truly IBA.”
