(May 24, 2022) – Ilang Facebook users at pages ang nagbahagi kamakailan ng mga larawan ng ‘di umano’y bagong P500 polymer banknote na nagtatampok ng Philippine tarsier. Peke ang mga ito.
ANG PAHAYAG: Ilang Facebook users at pages ang nagbahagi kamakailan ng mga larawan ng ‘di umano’y bagong P1,000 at P500 na bill.
Hindi bababa sa tatlong Facebook accounts ang nagbahagi ng parehong post noong ika-21 ng Abril.
Pareho lang ang caption ng mga ito maging ang mga emoji. Saad nito, “Hello new 500 and 1,000 peso bill.”
Kumalat ang mga post na ito matapos mag-post ang Facebook page na “Night Owl by Anna Mae Lamentillo” ng larawan ng redesigned na P1,000 banknote sa parehong araw.
Si Lamentillo ang chairman ng komiteng Build, Build, Build ng Department of Public Works and Highways.
“Gustung gusto ko ang bagong 1,000-peso bill! Pagbati, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas!” saad ng caption sa wikang Ingles, na may mga emoji ng watawat ng Pilipinas.
Itinampok sa redesign ang Philippine eagle kapalit ng tatlong bayani ng ikalawang digmaang pandaigdig.
Gawa rin ito sa polymer materials.
Isinapubliko ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ang bagong itsura ng P1,000 bill noong ika-6 ng Abril.
Nauna nang inanunsyo ng BSP na nakatakdang ilabas ang 10 milyong piraso ng mga ito sa isang limited circulation test bago matapos ang 2022.
Ang P1,000 bill, pinakamataas na banknote sa ngayon, ay naglalaman ng mga mukha nina Jose Abad Santos, Vicente Lim, at Josefa Llanes Escoda sa harapang bahagi.
MARKA: Ang sinasabing bagong P500 polymer banknote na nagtatampok ng Philippine tarsier ay peke.
ANG TOTOO: Noong ika-22 ng Abril, nagkomento ang BSP sa post ng Facebook page na “Vibes” at nilinaw na wala itong inilabas na P500 polymer banknote.
“Nais klaruhin ng BSP na hindi ito naglabas ng 500-piso polymer banknote. Para sa mga official announcement, please follow our social media channels,” saad ng komento.
Pinabulaanan na ng BSP ang larawan ng P500 bill na nagtampok sa Philippine tarsier sa harapang bahagi noon pang Disyembre 2021.
Ang larawan ay umiikot sa social media noong panahong iyon.
Sinabi rin ni BSP governor Benjamin Diokno sa Philstar.com sa isang text message na ito ay “fake news.”
Natuklasan din ng fact-checkers na ang imahe ng tarsier ay na-edit lamang sa banknote.
Napag-alaman sa isang reverse image search na ang tarsier ay likha ng isang Russian artist na nagngangalang Evgeny Turaev.
Ang dibuhong ito ay madali ring makikita sa ilang photo-sharing at stock photo na mga website.
Ang aktwal na disenyo ng P500 bill, pangalawang pinakamataas na banknote, ay nagtatampok ng yumaong mga icon ng demokrasya na si Benigno Aquino Jr. at ng kanyang asawang si dating Pangulong Corazon “Cory” Aquino sa harapang bahagi.
BAKIT ITO MAHALAGA: Ang pages na nag-post ng P500 bill na larawan ay agad na tinanggap ng libu-libong Facebook users.
Ang post mula sa page na “Pepe News” ay nakakuha ng 9,800 reactions, mahigit 700 comments, 19,000 shares, batay sa status noong ika-24 April.
Umani ng 20,000 reactions, siyam na comments, at 90,000 shares ang post ng isa pang account na may pangalang Mae Dello Pilo.
Gayundin, umani ng 24,000 reactions, 1,800 comments, at 78,000 shares ang post ng page na “Vibes.”
Batay sa comments section, mayroong ilang Facebook users na inaakalang totoo ang P500 na larawan:
“Ayos wala na mukha ng mga Aquino sa 500,” ayon sa isang Facebook user.
“Wala na mga mukha ng mga Aquino (‘di) naman sila mga hero,” ani ng isa pang comment.
Alinsunod sa pagtanggal ng mga mukha ng mga bayaning Pilipino sa mga banknote, sinabi ng BSP na malapit nang itampok ng pera ng Pilipinas ang mayamang “flora and fauna” ng bansa.
