(November 7, 2024) – Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4 has been raised over the northern portion of mainland Cagayan and Ilocos Norte and northeastern portion of Apayao due to Typhoon Marce, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 8 a.m. update on Thursday, November 7.
PAGASA reported that the tropical cyclone slightly intensifies as it meanders over the sea east of Cagayan.
The center of Typhoon Marce was last located 175 km East of Aparri, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h and gusts of up to 205 km/h. It is moving west-northwest slowly.
According to the state weather bureau, Typhoon Marce is forecast to move generally west northwestward for the next 12 hours over the waters east of Cagayan before turning generally westward from this afternoon until Saturday, November 9.
On the forecast track, Marce will make landfall and traverse Babuyan Islands and/or the northern portions of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao or pass very close to these areas from Thursday afternoon until early morning of Friday, November 8. They added that the typhoon may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) region on Friday afternoon or evening.
