(September 19, 2024) – The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Thursday said an informant has positively identified former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, who remains at large, in a specific area.
Roque is facing an arrest order from the quad committee of the House of Representatives after being cited in contempt anew. He has not been found at his residences in Metro Manila and his office.
“Kailangan natin ng recording para ma-locate talaga (si Roque). But as of now, maganda naman (‘yung development) kasi may nakapag positive na nakakita sa kanya sa area, that’s why bina-validate natin,” said PNP-CIDG spokesperson Lt. Col. Imelda Reyes.
She refused to provide further details but said they have formed a “tracker team” to locate Roque.
Roque was cited in contempt once again for ignoring a subpoena to submit his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth from 2016-2022. He is being investigated for alleged ties to Philippine offshore gaming operators, an accusation he has denied.
He claimed that the investigation is driven by “power trippers.”
Roque, a former human rights lawyer, was accused of abusing his power during the term of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

In a Facebook Live last Monday, Roque declared that he will only surrender if ordered by the Supreme Court.
“Naniniwala kasi ako na kapag ang Kongreso ay lumabag sa kanyang kapangyarihan at naging guilty of abuse of power at grave abuse of discretion amounted to lack of jurisdiction, illegal ang kanilang order,” said Roque.
Reyes warned those who may have been sheltering Roque.
“Kahit sino naman na mag-obstruct of justice, wala naman tayong pinipili. The moment na ma-implement natin ‘yun at malaman na meron nag-obstruct doon sa kanya ay mananagot,” said Reyes.
Last month, Roque was detained for 24 hours by the House of Representatives for “lying” to the quad committee about his absence from a hearing.
