Man shot dead by cop in road rage incident in Quezon City

(March 21, 2025) – A man was shot dead by a police officer in a road rage incident in Tandang Sora Ave., Quezon City on Thursday, local authorities said.

The 42-year-old victim, who was driving a pickup truck, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while his 51-year-old passenger, who’s a relative, remains in critical condition due to injuries.

The three other passengers, also the victim’s relatives, were unharmed.

They were on their way to Marilao, Bulacan from Antipolo, Rizal when they had an altercation with a van, whose driver later allegedly blocked their path.

“Bumaba ‘yung (van) driver. Sinuntok niya ‘yung driver namin. May dala na siyang baril, sabay putok. Inubos niya lahat ng bala,” claimed one of the victim’s relatives, adding that the suspect simply left after the shooting. The pickup truck, meanwhile, lost control and collided with concrete barriers.

“Dapat makulong (ang suspek). Pulis, gagawin ‘yung ganun? Parang pumatay lang siya ng hayop. Pagbaril, sabay lakad lang, sakay, tapos alis,” added the witness.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered seven bullet casings from the crime scene.

The suspect, an executive master sergeant, surrendered to the Batasan Police Station. He was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit at Camp Karingal in Quezon City.

“Tinitiyak ang isang patas, masusi, at transparent na imbestigasyon upang matiyak na mabibigyan ng hustisya ang mga biktima,” said the Quezon City Police District in a statement.

The suspect has yet to talk to the media, as of writing.
