(May 13, 2025) – Pres. Bongbong Marcos on Tuesday called for the newly elected officials to “move forward together” regardless of their alliances, stressing again his unity slogan as his senatorial bets are poised to win just half of the 12 available seats in the upper chamber.
In a statement a day after the conduct of the 2025 national and local elections, Marcos quoted his late father Ferdinand Marcos Sr., whom he said called for the country to “march forward” as “a nation united.”
“Sa gobyernong tapat, kasama ang lahat,” Marcos also said.
“Governance is a shared responsibility, a mission that requires unity and burden sharing for the common good. To the newly elected, regardless of party or coalition, I extend my hand. Let us move forward together—with open minds and a common purpose.”
The Marcos administration’s Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition is slated to win fewer than expected seats based on the partial, unofficial results on the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) media server.
Of the administration’s slate’s 11 candidates, only half are poised to win: ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo, former senators Ping Lacson and Tito Sotto, Sen. Pia Cayetano, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, and Sen. Lito Lapid.
Marcos’ sister Sen. Imee Marcos, who withdrew from the coalition during the campaign, is also slated to win her reelection.
Among the five remaining seats, three are set to be taken up by Duterte-backed bets: Sen. Bong Go, Sen. Bato dela Rosa, and SAGIP Rep. Rodante Marcoleta. The other two candidates — former senators Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino — are allied with neither faction.
Marcos touted the conduct of the elections as peaceful, orderly, and “with dignity.”
“It is both a celebration of continuity and a call to act on the real challenges our people face,” the President said.
