(May 8, 2025) — As the 2025 Philippine national and local elections draw near, public conversations on digital platforms are rapidly intensifying. To help make sense of this surge in online discourse, MQuest Ventures has partnered with leading social listening platform Meltwater to launch a live elections dashboard designed to monitor, track, and analyze public sentiment and digital conversations — with a particular focus on the senatorial race.
This collaboration aims to strengthen the Bilang Pilipino election coverage of MediaQuest’s top news organizations by equipping journalists and producers with a powerful tool for accessing real-time insights into emerging narratives, election topics, candidate presence, and the platforms driving online conversations.
Analyzing Topics Shaping the Election Conversation
One of the dashboard’s key features is its ability to uncover which topics — such as job security, healthcare, education, corruption, and public safety — are generating the highest volumes of conversation and engagement over time.
Additionally, the dashboard provides a pulse check on the digital traction of leading senatorial candidates by analyzing the volume of mentions, reach and engagement, and emerging keyphrases attached to their names. It will also cross-reference which candidates are most mentioned with specific election topics — for example, identifying whether a candidate is predominantly discussed in the context of education reforms, healthcare concerns, or economic security.
Tracking Emerging Hashtags and Key Phrases
The dashboard will spotlight the emerging hashtags and phrases circulating online about the elections and senatorial candidates. Importantly, it will cover not just individual names but also broader electoral conversations, ensuring a holistic view that captures both the candidates’ online campaign messages and the general sentiment of the Filipino public.
Finally, it will identify the most active online platforms where election discussions are taking place — whether that’s X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Reddit, or other digital communities.
Enhancing Journalism Through Data
This innovative project is part of MQuest Ventures’ broader commitment to leveraging technology to strengthen journalism and serve the public good.
For News5 head Patrick Paez, having access to real-time insights gives an invaluable layer of understanding to Bilang Pilipino’s multiplatform reporting. “Social listening tools like Meltwater allow us to move beyond traditional methods of gathering news and tapping directly into the evolving public conversation,” he said of the partnership.
“Just as importantly, these digital insights complement the work of our reporters on the ground, helping us brainstorm, spot patterns, and craft deeper, more impactful stories,” Paez added.
Catch the Bilang Pilipino 2025 election coverage across the print, radio, television, and digital platforms of MediaQuest’s leading news organizations — including News5, TrueFM, One News, One PH, The Philippine Star, BusinessWorld, The Freeman, and Pilipino Star Ngayon.
