(August 19, 2024) – The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) on Monday confirmed that dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo left the Philippines last month, based on immigration records of foreign counterparts.
The PAOCC said Guo arrived in Malaysia on July 18.
“Malaysian immigration officials confirmed: An Alice Guo arrived in Kuala Lumpur on July 18 coming from Denpasar or Bali in Indonesia,” said PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio on One News’ The Big Story.
He, however, noted that the information was solely based on Guo’s supposed passport.
“Let me qualify, the Malaysian officials stated that although the passport of Alice Guo was used, there was no physical confirmation of her entering the country,” added Casio.
Earlier today, Sen. Risa Hontiveros reported that Guo left the country on July 17, traveling to Malaysia and then to Singapore, where she reportedly reunited with her parents and business partners. Hontiveros cited a document she acquired from a source.
Prior to the PAOCC’s report, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Guo might have departed the Philippines illegally, without going through the required process.
BI commissioner Norman Tansingco said they received intelligence information that Guo left for Malaysia and Singapore from very reliable sources.
The BI maintained that it has a presence at all regular international ports of exit.
“We have not received any turnover or reports related to Guo from other agencies, including those manning our maritime borders,” said Tangsingco in a media release on Monday.
Guo is facing an arrest order from the Senate for refusing to attend the inquiry into her alleged links to Philippine offshore gaming operators and crimes like human trafficking, money laundering, prostitution, and fraud, among others.
Her nationality was also questioned for her inconsistent statements about her background.
Guo’s legal counsel, Atty. Stephen David, said the disgraced mayor is considering surrendering to authorities.
“Hindi ko lang alam ‘yung timing kung kailan,” said David on One News’ Storycon on Monday.
