(May 17, 2025) – Pres. Bongbong Marcos called on the “Siklab-Laya” Class of 2025 of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) to serve the nation with “dignity, honor, and love” during his speech at the commencement exercises at Fort General Gregorio del Pilar, Baguio City on Saturday.
“Wherever your duty may take you, may it be in the mountains, in the seas, or communities, serve with dignity, serve with honor, serve with love,” he said.
Pres. Marcos praised the graduating batch for achieving significant milestones, including being the first group to be trained on Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea.
“In every instance you have proved that Filipino soldiers is ready to face the world with dignity and to show his excellence,” he expressed.
He added that the graduates are “the new faces of heroic service.” Filipinos who are disciplined, capable, and full of love for the country.
“Muli, sa Class of 2025, congratulations at maraming salamat sa pagpili ninyong manilbihan. Ito ay panata sa bandila, sa bayan, at sa taumbayan.”
Meanwhile, in a video posted on her social media page, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte extended her greetings and honored the PMA “Siklab-Laya” Class of 2025, praising their deep love for the nation.
“You have chosen the life of selfless service that only the brave, the courageous, and the real patriot would choose — demonstrating strength, integrity, and honor before a nation seeking to overcome institutional abuse of power and extreme inequalities impacting mostly the poor,” she said.
She also expressed hope that the graduates would always be instruments in advancing what is good, what is right, what is true, and real change in the lives of Filipinos who continue to dream, strive, and hope for success.
The “Siklab-Laya” class name stands for “Sundalong Isinilang na Kasangga at Lakas ng Ating Bayan para sa Kalayaan” or “Soldiers Born as Allies and Strength of Our Nation for Freedom.”
The Class of 2025 is composed of 266 cadets (212 males and 54 females). Of these, 137 will join the Philippine Army (PA), 71 will serve in the Philippine Navy (PN), and 58 will be commissioned into the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
