(September 21, 2024) – The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) on Friday formally endorsed actor Philip Salvador as one of its senatorial candidates for
the 2025 elections. Sen. Bong Go and Sen. Bato dela Rosa will also run
for reelection under the same party.
The announcement was made during the PDP national assembly, attended by
over 1,000 party members and supporters in Davao City on Friday, Sept.
20 led by former president and PDP chairman Rodrigo Duterte.
The assembly also featured the oath-taking of new members and the election
of new party officials including Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, the party’s newly appointed executive vice president.“Araw-araw, marami akong batikos na tinatanggap, pero okay lang sa akin ‘yan. Kasi alam ko, nandiyan lahat ng PDP para sumuporta.
Ako po ay PDP, mamamatay na PDP, tinatanggap ko po ang aking nominasyon,” Salvador said in his speech, accepting the party’s nomination.
Go,meanwhile, said that, “Kami po nina Sen. Bato, Philip Salvador —gusto
po namin ipagpatuloy ‘yung gobyernong may tapang at pagmamalasakit sa
kapwa Pilipino.”
“Aayaw pa ba ako? Nandito na ako eh. Kaya alam niyo, even before the recent
developments, ‘no, I have already decided to run again for reelection,”
Dela Rosa furthered.
In a show of political unity, the assembly also marked the signing of a
memorandum of agreement (MOA) to form an alliance with three political
parties: Partido para sa Demokratikong Reporma (Partido Reporma),
Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), and Mayor Rodrigo Roa
Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC).Further, Sen. Robin Padilla has been named the campaign manager for PDP’s 2025 senatorial slate.
“Wala po akong bahid ng kahit ano. Isa lang po ang bahid ko, ako’y
mapagmahal, hindi sinungaling, totoo, higit sa lahat, may ba***.” he
stressed.
PDP also extended invitations to Vice President Sara Duterte and 1st
District Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte to formally join the party,
through an adopted resolution.
Meanwhile, Davao Mayor Duterte has already acceded and taken his oath as the executive vice president of the party.
PDP dropped the “Laban” from its name last April.
