(September 14, 2024) – Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Saturday said the Filipino-Chinese trader who was allegedly bribed by dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo to help her escape may be part of a Hong Kong-based triad.
Last Wednesday, former senator Ping Lacson revealed that Guo allegedly offered the trader, who’s also his friend, P1 billion to assist her departure from the Philippines amid the ongoing probe on her supposed link to Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
Lacson, however, did not disclose the individual’s name.
“Kung ako si Senator Ping, i-divulge na lang niya pangalan kung sino ang nilapitan at inofferan ng P1 billion,” said Estrada in an interview on DWIZ 882. “’Wag na mag-guessing game.”
The Department of Justice and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission are already looking into the alleged bribe.

“Kung meron siyang (Guo) ganun kalaking pera, kaya niya talaga bilhin ang lahat ng gusto niyang suhulan,” added Estrada. “Pero palagay ko naman walang papayag na tumanggap ng ganung kalaki dahil napaka-sensationalized nitong (isyu).”
Guo’s legal counsel, Atty. Stephen David, dismissed Lacson’s allegation.
During the Senate hearing last Monday, Guo confessed that she and her cohorts used a yacht to exit the country from a port in Metro Manila. She refused to reveal the identity of the yacht’s owner. She was cited for contempt anew.
Estrada, meanwhile, stressed that he has yet to confirm Guo’s connection with the Fujian Gang, which is notorious for criminal activities, including inciting violence, money laundering, and bribery, among others.
Guo left the Philippines last July 18 and traveled across Southeast Asia before getting arrested in Indonesia last September 3. She was brought back to the Philippines last September 6 and is currently under the custody of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The disgraced mayor is facing charges of human trafficking, graft, and money laundering for her alleged involvement in raided POGO hubs in Bamban, Tarlac and Porac, Pampanga.
