(February 4, 2022) – Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos Jr. on Friday skipped the forum jointly organized by the country’s broadcast media networks to give way to an interview with television host Korina Sanchez-Roxas, prompting various reactions on social media.
Marcos, the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas in the 2022 elections, was the only one among the six invited presidential candidates who begged off from joining the Panata sa Bayan forum hosted by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).
Atty. Vic Rodriguez, the spokesperson of Marcos, said they had a conflict of schedule but he did not disclose the event that the late dictator’s son would attend today. It was only around lunchtime that Marcos’ camp revealed that he was in an interview with Sanchez-Roxas for a show that will air this weekend.
Marcos was seen cooking in photos and videos, shared by Rated Korina director David Chua on Instagram. Many netizens swiftly posted reactions, questioning Marcos’ priorities.

It was the second time that Marcos declined to attend a presidential forum or interviews organized by the media. Many criticized him when he declined the interview hosted by award-winning broadcast journalist Jessica Soho, who he accused of being biased against his family.
Sanchez-Roxas clarified she has also interviewed Marcos’ opponents, Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Ping Lacson, and Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
The show’s runners also said it was the Marcos camp who picked the date of his guesting.
Some netizens can’t help but compare Marcos with Robredo, his staunch rival, who made time for the KBP forum even if her camp was supposed to fly back to areas hit by Typhoon Odette.
Nanghiram kami ng opisina malapit sa airport kung saan puwede kami maki Zoom para maka attend ng KBP Presidential Candidates Forum. Nakaschedule sana kaming lumipad ngayong umaga para balikan ang Odette-affected areas, pero pinush back namin ng lunchtime to make time for this. pic.twitter.com/muzQnidHqP

KBP said invitations were sent out as early as December & Marcos camp declined because of conflicting scheds. last January 13, Korina was saying in her IG that they couldn’t get the team to say YES to her.

So you mean to tell me that Marcos DiktaJr. prioritized the filming of a cooking show with Korina instead of attending a presidential forum that aims to present the presidentiables’ stance and platforms on pressing sociopolitical issues?
nakakagalit at nakakahiya na lang talaga.

So you're telling me that Marcos didn't attend the #KBPForum because of a "conflict" in his schedule, tapos makikita ng buong Pilipinas na nasa cooking show sya with Korina???
Wow. PRIORITIES.

The Commission on Elections has said any candidate is not mandated to attend interviews but it emphasized that a no-show could count as a “red flag” about the individual’s character.
Atty. Barry Gutierrez, the spokesperson of Robredo, earlier hit Marcos for skipping yet another forum, echoing the concerns raised by many.
“This is already a glimpse of how he’ll be as president. Mawawala. Magtatago. Iiwas. Aatras. Susuko. Magpapalusot. Magdadahilan,” said Gutierrez. “Tapos papakawalan ang trolls para depensahan ang pagkukulang. We don’t deserve this. Papayag ba tayo sa ganito?” (PM)
