Trigger warning: This article mentions sexual abuse.
(September 13, 2024) – The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday said it is prepared to place more victims of self-styled pastor Apollo Qauiboloy under the witness protection program (WPP).
DOJ undersecretary Atty. Nicholas Felix Ty asserted that more victims are ready to testify against the “systematic abuse” committed by Quiboloy and his cohorts in Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
“Puwede silang masama sa WPP,” said Ty in a media briefing. “Sa ibang biktima, makipag-coordinate lang sa WPP para mapagkasunduan kung paano ang magiging arrangement.”
He furthered that one of the witnesses, identified only as “Amanda,” was also offered the WPP but declined.
“Para sa kanya at sa kanyang abogado, mas komportable sila sa kanilang sariling arrangements para sa proteksyon ni ‘Amanda,’” added Ty. “May security sila kada pupunta sa korte.”
Last January, “Amanda” recalled that having sexual intercourse with Quiboloy was deemed a “special privilege” among members of KOJC.
She said she was forced to have sex with the self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” in September 2014 when was only 17 years old. It prompted her to leave KOJC, along with her younger sister.
Last Thursday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that Quiboloy allegedly told his victims that they were “still pure and intact” after the sexual abuse. Some were as young as 12 years old.
Quiboloy, a close ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte, also allegedly threatened the victims to be pursued by “angels of death” if they disclosed the crime.
Quiboloy and his co-accused, Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes, pleaded not guilty to the human trafficking complaint filed against them in Pasig.
They were arrested last Sunday after an over two-week search in the KOJC compound in Davao City.

Quiboloy is among the most wanted criminals by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation due to sex trafficking, child exploitation, conspiracy, fraud and coercion, and bulk cash smuggling.
