(September 16, 2024) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday confirmed that it has joined the manhunt operation for former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque following the release of an arrest order against him.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo reported that all law enforcement officers were informed of the impending arrest of Roque, who suddenly couldn’t be located.
“Lahat ng nakakuha ng kopya nun (arrest order) ay pupuwede nilang arestuhin onsite kung makikita si Harry Roque dahil siya ay pinatawan ng contempt,” said Fajardo in an interview. “Inaatasan ang PNP na tumulong sa (Office of the) Sergeant at Arms (of the House of Representatives) para hanapin (siya).”
She furthered that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group visited Roque’s two addresses in Metro Manila today but he was not there.

Last Thursday, Roque was cited for contempt and ordered detained by the quad committee of the House of Representatives for repeatedly ignoring a subpoena demanding him to submit his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth from 2016 until 2022.
In a Facebook Live today, Roque criticized the quad committee’s move, explaining a resource person should be respected instead of punished. He refused to attend the latest hearing on his alleged connection to a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO).
“Wala silang mahanap na link sa akin sa POGO dahil sinabi na nga ni Cassie Ong na hindi talaga ako involved sa Lucky South (99 Corp.),” said Roque. “Humahanap sila ng butas.”
Ong is a point person of Whirlwind Corp., which leased property to the said POGO in Porac, Pampanga, which was raided last June.
Roque, a close ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte, admitted to providing legal advice to Whirlwind Corp.
He was also included in the probe regarding a raided house in Benguet used by POGO workers after admitting his “interest” in the company that owns the property.
“Mr. Roque has been evasive, and his actions suggest that he is unwilling to face accountability,” said Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, who heads the quad committee. “The public deserves transparency, especially in matters involving significant legal and financial questions.”
