(September 26, 2024) – Pres. Bongbong Marcos Jr. on Thursday once again stressed the importance of unity among government officials to achieve a progressive Philippines.
He reiterated his stance during the convention of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, his newly formed political alliance, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay.
“Hindi pangkaraniwan ang pagtitipon ngayon dahil ito ay pagkakataon para ipakita natin ang kahalagahan ng pagsasama-sama at ng pagkakaisa,” said Marcos in his speech.
Under the UniTeam, Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte-Carpio repeatedly touted the vision of unity during the campaign for the 2022 elections.
But in just two years after they won, their UniTeam got splintered after Duterte-Carpio bolted from Marcos’ leadership, allegedly due to political differences.
She later said Marcos was not her friend, to begin with.
Last May, Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas was formed by Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats for next year’s midterm elections. Marcos and Romualdez are cousins.

Marcos furthered that “great public servants” will serve the best interest, welfare, and rights of Filipinos.
During the event, Marcos named the administration’s senatorial slate for the 2025 midterm elections. It includes his sister, Sen. Imee Marcos and her fellow reelectionists, Sen. Pia Cayetano, Sen. Bong Revilla, Sen. Lito Lapid, and Sen. Francis Tolentino, among others.
Former senators Manny Pacquiao and Ping Lacson are also part of the lineup.
“Sa kanilang kalidad at karanasan mataas ang aking kumpyansa na sila ay ating magiging katuwang sa ating pagsulong at sa patuloy na pag-unlad ng ating bansa,” said Marcos.
Marcos claimed that his administration sought political alliances to unite the country and not dominate the political landscape.
