(August 9, 2024) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday admitted that arresting fugitive Apollo Quiboloy could take days or weeks amid indications of his presence in Davao City.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo acknowledged the “difficulties” of the search, citing the vastness of Quiboloy’s 30-hectare Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound, where a hangar and a tunnel were reportedly sighted as potential hiding spots or escape routes.
“We are preparing for a longer battle this time. Longer days, if not hours,” said Fajardo in a press briefing. “I think it’s an open secret. Nung ginagawa itong structures na ito ay may mga lumabas pa sa YouTube na ipinagmamalaki nila ‘yung laki.”
She added that checkpoints were already established around the compound to prevent Quiboloy from escaping.
She furthered that Quiboloy’s supporters were clearly trying to protect him when they attempted to enter the KOJC compound to arrest him last June. They also observed the presence of alarms.
“Nung lumabas ‘yung mga pulis, parang may sirena silang (Quiboloy’s supporters) pinatunog. I don’t know if it is just a signal to anyone to give them the opportunity to hide or even escape.” added Fajardo.
Quiboloy, who calls himself the “Appointed Son of God,” has two arrest warrants against him for human trafficking and child abuse.
A close ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte, he is among the most wanted criminals of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation due to multiple charges, including human trafficking, sexual abuse, corruption, and fraud.
Last June, the PNP reiterated that Quibiloy is still in the country. The PNP has been heavily criticized for failing to locate the self-styled pastor.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government placed a P10 million reward for any information regarding the location of Quiboloy.
Fajardo, meanwhile, noted that the freeze order from the Court of Appeals on Quiboloy’s bank accounts and assets was expected to hamper his movements and associates.

“Inaasahan natin na mapuputol nito (freeze order) ang kakayahan nila para pagtaguan ang batas,” said Fajardo, urging Quiboloy to spare his supporters.
